Break Da Bank Again Pokies Review

You better call your getaway driver and see if he's busy, since we're about to Break Da Bank Again. Following on from the original Break Da Bank, this sequel is a complete revamp of the first in the series.

With a bonus round, a large jackpot and an even better wild multiplier, there's a lot to recommend it over the original. But we need to find out if it can compete with other, newer slots on the market too.

Theme

As you'd expect, the theme of Break Da Bank Again is much the same as the original game; reel icons include cracked safes, chequebooks and gold bars. The colours and visual style have been imported straight across, and they still work just fine.

There is, however, a little background jingle set over artificial casino noise. This gets repetitive quickly, and it sort of makes you wonder why the creators bothered to include it at all.

Unlike in the original, pays are now visible in a menu separate from the game's main screen. It takes a bit of familiarization to get to grips with the new reel icons, but you'll soon learn which ones you want to be showing up most often.

There's no doubt that the visuals and sounds are an improvement on the original, though there's still nothing that's going to blow you away here.

Gameplay

Break Da Bank Again has five reels, compared with the original Break Da Bank's three, but it still only has 9 paylines. This means that wins sometimes feel few and far between, and you do occasionally run across lines that look like they should win you something but don't.

When you do manage to secure a win, you can always gamble it on the turn of a card. Predicting the colour will double your win while guessing the suit correctly will quadruple it.

There are two big improvements to the gameplay of the first Break Da Bank in Break Da Bank Again. First is the fact that wild BDBA symbols now offer a 5x multiplier when they form part of a winning line. Second is the inclusion of a bonus round.

15, 20 or 25 free spins with a 5x multiplier awarded for 3, 4 or 5 safe symbols, plus extra free spins every time you land a safe within the bonus round, means that bonus rounds can be seriously rewarding. Plus, wins with the BDBA wild symbol have a huge 25x multiplier during the bonus round.

Added Value

It's worth noting that this slot is very volatile. The jackpot is worth almost 400,000 coins, which is definitely worth playing for, but the result is that you can go for a long time without any wins.

As well as burning through your bankroll, this also means that (despite the huge possible multipliers) you can come out of bonus rounds with very little to show for it.

All in all, this is a great pokie, but it's not one for the faint of heart; you may need to stick with it for quite a while before you see any returns.

Summary

A million miles from its predecessor, Break Da Bank Again has better graphics, more paylines, a huge jackpot and a bonus round featuring up to 25 free spins with a 5x multiplier (or a staggering 25x multiplier where BDBA wilds are involved). In other words, it's an improvement on the original in every way. It's more volatile than the first Break Da Bank, but the added extras make this a fair tradeoff in our eyes. Be warned: reaching the bonus round, where you get your chance to "break da bank", can take quite some time and might cost you.
